Beekman and Poughquag

Like much of Dutchess County, the Town of Beekman’s major economic driver in the eighteenth century was the iron ore industry. Remnants of iron stone furnaces can still be seen on Furnace Road. The hamlet of Poughquag is home to Barton Orchards, a pick-your-own farm and family fun destination. In addition to choosing any of their home grown crops from the fields – apples, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, peppers, beans, squash and pumpkins – enjoy a petting zoo, fun park, corn maze, haunted house, tap room and more. Don’t miss an experience on one of the five full-size aerial obstacle courses at Tree Top Adventures at Barton Orchards. Access the Appalachian Trail from Depot Hill Road or at the Beekman/Pawling town line.
