Spend Upstate Art Weekend in Dutchess County

Date Published: May 3, 2023

Ready to spend a weekend discovering immersive arts experiences? Plan your trip to Dutchess County during Upstate Art Weekend (July 21-24), an annual celebration featuring over 130 destinations and artists from across the Hudson Valley.

Explore the dozens of unique galleries, installations and museums in Dutchess. Of course, the county’s central location makes it the perfect home base for jaunts in the Catskills and along the Hudson. World-famous destinations like Storm King Art Center and Opus 40 are just a short drive away. For a preview of the event in the New York Times, click here.

Speaking of world-famous art centers, don’t miss the special exhibits at Dia Beacon. This modern art museum—built in a former Nabisco box printing factory—features multi-media installations ranging from the bright neon lights of Dan Flavin to the striking sculptures of Louise Bourgeois.

The Wassaic Project debuts one-of-a-kind displays inside a 1940s mill, while T Space in Rhinebeck showcases paintings, poetry, architecture and more, just to name a few of the destinations participating. Plus, engage with artists in their creative spaces during open studio hours, 12-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
