Participate in the 2018 Dragon Boat Race & Festival on Saturday, July 21st
On Saturday, July 21st join us on the Hudson River for another year at the Dutchess Dragon Boat Race and River Festival hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Dutchess County. What better way to spend a summer day than out on the water! As we approach the 5th annual race, we are more excited than ever to showcase Poughkeepsie’s beautiful Hudson River waterfront and raise funds for important, and local, non-profit organizations. This year all proceeds will go to supporting the Habitat’s mission, raise funds, and increase community awareness. Don’t miss it, come out and paddle, or cheer on those racing in this memorable Dutchess County event!
Each of the unique dragon boats is made of fiberglass, with a carved painted dragon head on the front, a wooden tail on the back, and the hull painted with brightly colored dragon scales. Whether you’re participating or encouraging the rowers along the banks of the Hudson River, this event is one to remember. While the races are going on, the shoreline will be humming with energy and excitement at the Riverside Festival where there will be a wide range of entertainment during the day, including food trucks, local community vendors, and artists! Check out all the participating vendors here.
Don’t think you need to be an expert rower to participate, this event is intended for teams made up of families, friends, co-workers, you name it! We always love seeing both experienced rowers and amateurs alike out there paddling down the Hudson, so don’t think you can’t be part of the run! This event is always an extraordinary day, and one that people of all ages enjoy. Teams are to be made up of 16 paddlers, a drummer, and 2-3 alternatives. Don’t have a team? That’s ok! Individuals can register and be placed on a team that needs paddlers. Don’t be shy – have fun, make some new friends, and paddle like a champion! There’s still space, so register to be part of the race here!
