Memorial Day Events in Hyde Park

Date Published: April 25, 2024

It may be called "the unofficial start of summer," but Memorial Day is meant to be a solemn day of remembrance to honor those who died while defending this great nation. There are parades, ceremonies and events planned throughout Dutchess County for Memorial Day weekend, including these events scheduled in Hyde Park:

Patriotism Unfurled

Saturday through Monday, May 25, 26 and 27

The Hyde Park Education Foundation will host its fourth annual “Field of Honor” flag display at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site over Memorial Day Weekend. Hundreds of American flags will fly in an inspiring, patriotic display. Last year's event featured more than 225 flags. Free to the public, this event is the Hyde Park Education Foundation’s annual fundraiser. There will be an opening ceremony Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and fun family activities all weekend, including live, local entertainment and a kids tent. Sponsor a flag to honor anyone who has touched your life, such as family members, friends, teachers, community volunteers, veterans, active military and service people. The 3-foot-by-5-foot American-made flag will fly on an 8-foot flagpole. When the event has ended, sponsors may keep their flags or donate them for use in next year's display. Flags are sponsored by one-time donations of $20 or more. Dedicate and purchase a flag to take home for $45 or more. For details, click here.
