Farmhouse red ales, peach and cherry saisons, honey-infused golden ales and many other small-batch brews celebrate the seasons. Tivoli’s new farm brewery solidifies this region as a must-visit destination for beer fans. A real family operation, couple Emily and Evan Watson specialize in sours, farmhouse ales and saison-style pours. Barn Beer, their flagship brew, features tart lemon and pineapple notes. The striking brick structure once housed a meat packing company and several other “blue collar” businesses over the decades—hence the brewery’s name. IPA and Darkness Squared coffee stout are a few of their most beloved pours. Farmhouse ales and tart fruited sours are main draws at Obercreek Brewing Company. For the perfect combination of flavors, their beer is made with a mix of ingredients found right on the farm, around New York State and beyond. Previous releases have featured black currants, pears, muscat grapes, plums and any other Hudson Valley fruit you can think of. In fact, they feature various wine grapes in their bottled Vacant Vines series. Nestled on the same property as the certified organic Obercreek Farm, visitors can stop by the farmstand for freshly picked and seasonally produced farm foods. Hudson Valley Brewery pulls from a variety of influences to create traditional, unique and experimental drafts, with a focus on colorful sour IPAs. However, you don’t have to be a brew-snob to enjoy the experience here. Playful tasting notes on the beer menu use everything from rainbow sprinkle frosting to chocolate chip cookie dough to describe draft pours. Visit their outdoor patio Thursday through Sunday, and grab a pie from the resident pizza truck onsite. It’s a great place to kick back and soak in Beacon’s creative aesthetic. Industrial Arts Brewing Company serves up craft beer in an ultra-vibrant modern space born out of an abandoned factory. Aromatic hazy IPAs in the Wrench series join pale ales like Tools of the Trade, which features bright notes of passionfruit, pink grapefruit and white grape. Score a seat on their vast patio Thursday through Sunday for unparalleled views of the Hudson Highlands mountain range.
