24 New Year’s Eve Hot Spots in Dutchess

Let the countdown begin! New Year’s Eve is one of the most fun and festive nights of the year, and here in Dutchess County, we are ready to pop the cork, pour the champagne and toast 2024 in grand fashion.  

Here is a list of 24 can’t-miss, alphabetically listed New Year’s Eve hot spots and uniquely Dutchess experiences (including a few that are kiddo-friendly). So, get out and celebrate! 

The nine Metro-North rail stations in the county and two Amtrak stops make getting here a snap. If time allows, make a weekend out of it! Check out these Boutique Hotels and Bed-and-Breakfasts and plan an unforgettable getaway. 

And after a night of revelry, a first-day hike is the perfect way to start the new year on the right foot (pun intended). First-day hikes are scheduled at Staatsburgh State Historic Site in Staatsburg and at the Walkway Over the Hudson in Poughkeepsie.

Put on your best flapper dresses and gangster suits and celebrate the Roaring ‘20s at the 2024 Countdown Party. Enjoy plenty of delicious food while international house music DJ and producer Cire provides the beats to help you dance the night away. Throughout the year, 1915 hosts a variety of live musical performances, including the popular Jazz Thursdays. They also offer a private dining experience in which groups of up to eight guests have the whole restaurant to themselves and can watch their meals being prepared as they discuss the ingredients and techniques with the chef and learn about wine pairings from the sommelier.

Ring in the New Year at America's oldest continuously operated inn, which was built in 1766 and is known to have hosted the likes of George Washington, Oprah Winfrey, Frank Sinatra and Miley Cyrus, just to name a few. Packages are available that include a three-course prix fixe dinner, the New Year’s Eve party and overnight accommodations. This charming inn in the heart of the Village of Rhinebeck offers a choice of 80 beautiful rooms in several different historic buildings, while the on-site restaurant, which was named among the “5 Best of Hudson Valley Restaurants to Try in Dutchess County” by Valley Table, serves lunch and dinner seven days a week and Sunday brunch.

Carter’s Restaurant and Lounge | Beacon 

Groove to the soulful rock, pop, blues and country sounds of Mama’s Black Sheep, followed by DJ dance music, as you count down to midnight. Those who aren’t night owls, however, may prefer the free Sunday brunch performance featuring Chris Kasper and Kiley Ryan earlier in the day. Owned by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Daryl Hall, Daryl’s House hosts live musical performances several nights each week and offers scrumptious dinner and brunch menus. 


Dia | Beacon 

Begin your New Year’s Eve festivities by touring this extraordinary collection of contemporary art. Among the exhibitions you can see is Andy Warhol’s “Shadows,” which is perhaps his most abstract works and consists of 102 canvases. Opened in 2003 in what was once a Nabisco box-printing factory, Dia Beacon has been a driving force behind the city’s transformation into a vibrant and bustling arts and culture destination. Plus, Dia Beacon offers free admission to Hudson Valley residents on the last Sunday of each month — which, as luck would have it, includes New Year’s Eve this year. Dia Beacon is only about a 10-minute walk from the Beacon train station, which is a stop on Metro-North's Hudson Line. Di'Vine Wine Bar | Wappingers Falls 

Named the Best Wine Bar by Hudson Valley Magazine several years in a row, di’Vine is hosting a New Year’s Eve Eve party — on Saturday, Dec. 30 — featuring the musical stylings of singer/songwriter Nick Bukuvalas. Nestled in the heart of the historic Village of Wappingers Falls, di’Vine’s location offers stunning views of the falls. Sip and enjoy live music performances most Friday and Saturday nights. With its relaxed, adult-friendly vibe and a variety of seating options, di’Vine is perfect for date nights, a night out with a group of friends, or any type of gathering you have in mind. 


Dutchess Pride Center | Hopewell Junction 

The Dutchess Pride Center is a safe space for LGBTQ+ individuals of all ages and their families to meet and socialize. In addition to providing an important support network and valuable resources, it also hosts all sorts of great events throughout the year. That includes this year’s Teen New Year’s Eve Eve Party on Dec. 30.

Enjoy a fascinating slice of local history with a visit to the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, where you can see the exhibition featuring Hudson Valley Ice Yachts. Ice sailing has been a popular winter activity on the frozen Hudson River dating back to the 1800s and was a favorite pastime of FDR himself. This free public exhibition opens on Dec. 21 and will be on display in the Wallace Center every day through Jan. 7 (except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day). Visitors are welcome on New Year’s Eve between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. View authentic ice boats with full rigging — including KRISS, the boat built for FDR's uncle, John Aspinwall Roosevelt.

K104’s Bill Beale keeps the party hopping for this New Year’s Eve Gala overlooking the Hudson River. Start by enjoying a mouthwatering assortment of hors d’oeuvres internationally themed stations during the cocktail reception, followed by a dazzling array of dinner options and desserts. Don’t leave without grabbing some breakfast sandwiches, cheeseburger sliders and hot dogs, and be sure to take advantage of special room rates at the Holiday Inn Express. With its stunning views of the river and the surrounding highlands, The Grandview is a great venue for elegant events and celebrations. Happy Valley’s New Year’s Eve Party will have a ‘70s glam theme, so bust out those platform shoes, bell-bottom slacks and polyester jumpsuits. DJ Ethical Drift lays down the tracks to keep the mood festive. This unique bar on Beacon’s walkable Main Street features more than two dozen fully operational vintage video game consoles, including Asteroids, Centipede, Frogger, Galaxian, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and Space Invaders, as well as several pinball machines.

Named one of the “5 Best of Hudson Valley Restaurants to Try in Dutchess County” by Valley Table and selected as the Best Restaurant in Dutchess by Hudson Valley Magazine for the second year in a row, Il Figlio Enoteca offers an impressive assortment of delicious Italian and Mediterranean dishes for lunch and dinner all year long, as well as an expansive wine and cocktail roster. For New Year’s Eve, however, they’ve designed a special dinner menu to celebrate the occasion.

Make your way to Joseph’s heated and enclosed patio this New Year’s Eve and enjoy live music by Silly Little Things, a sit-down dinner (entree choice of lobster or prime rib), dessert and champagne toast at midnight. Joseph’s, an elegant, Manhattan-style steakhouse with an Italian twist, is famous for its freshly cut, dry-aged, certified Angus steaks, as well as fresh seafood, classic Italian cuisine, homemade desserts and an expertly curated wine selection. 


Juan Murphy’s | Poughkeepsie 

Go back in time at Juan Murphy’s at the “Save the Clock Tower” 1980s-themed New Year’s Eve Party. Be sure to wear your finest ‘80s garb and enjoy a special New Year’s Eve menu and ‘80s-themed drinks, food and fun capped off by a champagne toast. Juan Murphy’s — the Irish pub with Mexican grub — hosts a variety of special events, including live musical performances and trivia nights. Be sure to try the nachos, which were named the best in the Hudson Valley in 2022 by Hudson Valley Magazine. 


Mahoney’s | Poughkeepsie 

Mahoney’s encourages you to ring in the new year the Irish way at their Irish New Year’s Eve Party beginning at 4 p.m. Enjoy live music by Mick Lynch, bagpipers, Irish step dancers, a champagne toast and a balloon drop at 7 p.m. — which is midnight in Ireland. Stick around for the after-party until 4 a.m. with DJ Parag. If it’s a few good laughs you’re looking for, head to Mahoney’s Laugh it Up Comedy Club for the New Year’s Eve Gala and Comedy Show featuring comedians Jerrold Benford, Dan Madonia, Anthony Zenhauser and Adam Izzo. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner, dessert table, champagne toast, balloon drop and party favors.

Pack up the kids and ring in the new year as a family at the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum’s New Year’s at Noon party. Enjoy music, activities for kids of all ages, refreshments and noisemakers, as you count down to noon. The museum will only be open on Dec. 31 for this event. The Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum (formerly the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum), offers lots of kid-friendly exhibits, including Early Learning Junction, the Science Center, the Children’s Garden, and the Imagination Playground. Stop by for the Family Free Night events, which are held on the third Sunday of each month; on these nights, the museum stays open late and offers free admission from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. for families with kids 12 and younger. 


Mill Creek Caterers | Hopewell Junction 

Music Masters DJ Entertainment keeps the tunes spinning so you can dance late into the night. Enjoy a full buffet dinner with a prime rib carving station, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, a jumbo shrimp tower, a delicious dessert bar and a champagne toast at midnight. Pose for pictures in the photobooth so you can reminisce about all the fun memories throughout the new year. Ticket options include an open bar or a cash bar. Say goodbye to 2023 with a beautiful New Year’s Eve brunch buffet or dinner overlooking the majestic Hudson River. The brunch features a dizzying array of breakfast and lunch favorites, along with carving stations and an extravagant dessert display. The dinner features a prix fixe menu with all sorts of great options for appetizers, entrées and dessert. Then, come back to Shadows the following day for their New Year’s Day brunch buffet and enjoy more of your favorite breakfast and lunch items, along with carving stations, a raw bar and a bevy of decadent desserts. Bring your appetite — and your camera, as Shadows is perched on a 40-foot cliff on the Poughkeepsie Waterfront and offers stunning views of the Hudson and the surrounding highlands both day and night.

Treat yourself to a night of savory Indian flavors, rousing dance beats and joyful celebration at Tamarind’s New Year’s Eve Bollywood Dance Party. DJ Hersh provides the music to keep the party hopping. Born and raised in Northern India, executive chef Manoj Rana was trained at the Himalayan Institute of Culinary Arts and began his career with the world’s top Michelin-star chefs in the luxury hotels of Dubai. He opened Tamarind in 2020, and he and his team have been supplying the Hudson Valley with authentic Indian cuisine with a modern flair ever since. In addition to lunch and dinner, Tamarind also hosts private events.

Terrapin’s New Year’s Eve dinner includes a special three-course, prix fixe menu served in the elegant dining room. Start with a tapas platter full of tasty choices, then select from a mouthwatering array of entrée options, and top it off with your choice of dessert. Or if you prefer, the Red Bistro and Bar will be open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight, and regular menu items will be available. Executive chef and owner Josh Kroner — who trained and was later an instructor at the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan — cooks up a unique style of New American cuisine, blending a classical French approach with the diverse influences of Asia, Italy and the American Southwest. Terrapin occupies Rhinebeck’s beautifully renovated First Baptist Church, which was erected in 1825.

The Disciples of Rock supply the live music to keep the festivities going as you count down to midnight at The Station Grille’s New Year’s Eve Party. Enjoy the full menu, along with dinner specials and themed drink specials. Raise your glass for the champagne toast at midnight. The Station hosts live musical performances most Friday and Saturday nights, as well as other fun events like line dancing and karaoke. It’s a great place to go out and eat if you have young children, as you can receive one free kids meal with the purchase of an adult entrée on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 – 8 p.m.

Ring in 2024 at the Towne Crier’s New Year’s Eve celebration featuring high-energy musical performances by the Chris O’Leary Band, the Dan Brother Band and Boom Kat. Executive chef Daniel Gugliuzza serves up a delicious prix fixe, multi-course meal that includes dessert and a champagne toast when the clock strikes midnight. You can also check out the New Year’s Eve show on the Salon Stage with the Judith Tulloch Band. The Towne Crier has been a mainstay in the Hudson Valley music scene since owner Phil Ciganer opened its doors on Nov. 21, 1972 (the act on that opening night, in case you were wondering, was the Wretched Refuse String Band). Since then, the Towne Crier has moved twice — from its original location in Beekman to Pawling, then to its current location in the heart of Beacon — and hundreds upon hundreds of musicians have graced its stage, including Pete Seeger, David Byrne, Joan Osborne, Arlo Guthrie, Don McLean, Kevin Bacon, Susanne Vega, Leslie Gore, John Sebastian, and the 10,000 Maniacs. The Towne Crier hosts live performances several nights each week and serves up delectable brunch, lunch and dinner menus, as well as sensational handmade desserts created by pastry chef Mary Ciganer.  


Troutbeck | Amenia 

Ring in the new year in the bucolic Amenia countryside at this historic 250-acre estate. Begin the evening in the dining room with a family-friendly, a la carte dinner featuring an amazing assortment of special dishes cooked up by Troutbeck’s culinary team led by executive chef Vincent Gilberti and chef Emma Isakoff. After dinner, head to the Manor House for the New Year’s Eve “House” Party, which is sure to include lots of dancing, with music being provided by DJ Tim Love Lee and DJ Taraka. Enjoy drinks and festive nibbles, and stick around for the champagne toast at midnight. Separate tickets are needed for the dinner and the party. Book one of Troutbeck’s luxurious rooms and spend the whole weekend — or longer — relaxing in the natural tranquility of eastern Dutchess. Troutbeck has welcomed a long list of distinguished guests since the 1700s and hosted two early meetings of the NAACP. Attendees at these meetings, now known as the Amenia Conferences of 1916 and 1933, included Mary Ovington, a co-founder of the NAACP; and groundbreaking African American writer, sociologist and activist W.E.B. DuBois. Colonel Joel Spingarn, who purchased Troutbeck in the early 1900s with his wife, Amy, was the chairman of the NAACP’s Board of Directors and one the organization’s first Jewish leaders.

Villa Borghese hosts its Champagne Dreams New Year’s Eve dance party featuring top-shelf open bar, an all-you-can-eat dinner buffet, a personalized photo booth, prizes and giveaways all night, and of course, a New Year's champagne toast when the clock strikes 12. Or if you prefer, head to Villa Borghese’s New Year’s Family Buffet earlier in the evening and enjoy lots of great food — including plenty of kid-approved food selections. Plus, you’ll be home in time to “watch the ball drop.”

Bia | Rhinebeck 

Bia is the Irish Gaelic term for food and sustenance, and every meal at Bia is a Hudson Valley interpretation of modern Irish cuisine. For New Year’s Eve, the folks at Bia are cooking up an amazing four-course, prix fixe menu that is sure to satisfy every appetite — and serving up specially crafted cocktails to wash it all down.
