ArtEast's 11th Annual Open Studio Tour in October

Art lovers and leaf peepers agree: October is prime time to spend a day on studio tours, rambling along scenic byways and country roads. Why not take a scenic road trip at the peak of fall foliage season? Just follow the yellow signs and you’ll easily find more than 40 artists busy at work in their studios and creative workspaces. This year the ArtEast Open Studio Tour is taking place October 14 & 15 and October 21 & 21.

Artists open their studios, barns, galleries even garages to visit over two fall weekends. Visit the artist around the corner or at the end of the dirt road. Artists have their work on display for show and for sale. Organized and run by artist participants, the ArtEast Open Studio Tour gives you a relaxed and intimate behind the scenes peek at where how and why these area artists create their work.

Visit Pawling to view the Artea the Turtle on the village green, painted by ArtEast artists and students. Take a selfie and post with #arteast. Plan your day or your weekend with a look at the tour brochure. Fill out the contact form to have it mailed to you. Maps and brochures are available online and in local shops, libraries and galleries.

This September 30th at the Pawling Farmers Market visit their booth and meet several local artists from 9am-1pm.

TAKE A ROADTRIP TO…Dover Plains, Holmes, Hopewell Junction, Pawling, Poughquag and Wingdale. See the muse descend or admire the technical processes of creating art! Find a wonderful bargain and perhaps invest in the next famous art sensation!

Artists are listed online by alphabetical order, by type of art and by location.  All of the studios are open the first weekend; a selection of studios are open both weekends, so check carefully when you’re making your list of those at which to stop! Many are along Rt. 22, from Pawling to Wingdale, and north to Amenia.

ArtEast is the winner of the Dutchess County Executive’s  “Art in Public Place Award” for 2017. It’s a great road trip thru eastern Dutchess during foliage season – you should go! Support the sponsors of local art programs.
