Join Dutchess Tourism in celebrating all the honorees at the 9th annual Dutchess Tourism Awards of Distinction breakfast at The Henry A. Ramona Rosenberg, Hessel Museum of Art: The wide range of individuals that come through the doors on any given day – from first-time museum goers, to students working on their PhDs, from reporters to senior groups. Additionally, the quality of the exhibitions are truly on par with any institution in any major city - and they are right here in the Hudson Valley.
Theresa Kraft, Howland Cultural Center: The Howland Cultural Center is especially grateful to our friends, our community and visitors for supporting us as we continue the work as a non-profit organization whose mission is three-fold. The architectural preservation of our historic 1872 Richard Morris Hunt building, the “Jewel of Beacon” listed on the National Register of Historic Places, while fostering the rich artistic and cultural community of the City of Beacon and beyond. The Howland has earned its reputation for its exceptional acoustics and exhibit space in the Northcutt Hall Gallery. Newly dedicated to Florence E. Northcutt.
Gina Palmer, Tivoli Artists Gallery: Art is a visual language. It is a form of communication and the elements are found in every aspect of human development.
Tivoli Artists Gallery is a non-profit gallery in the Hudson Valley. With monthly curated shows and dedicated artisans, TAG is comprised of passionate talent from the tri-state area and beyond, working in an array of media and styles. We're a group of 40+ artists housed in a beautiful airy space in the lively village of Tivoli, New York. Membership includes painters, printmakers, sculptors, jewelers, photographers, potters, illustrators, performance artists, digital artists, graphic designers and animators.
Many of the artists work in more than one medium, which makes each monthly exhibit unique and unprecedented. The potential for support, personal growth and exploration through collaboration with fellow artist members is a unique feature of this gallery. It creates the opportunity for visual communication with the community and that is inspiring.
Ramona Rosenberg, Hessel Museum of Art: The fact that we are a world-renowned contemporary art museum with a large permanent collection that is always free and open to the public.
Theresa Kraft, Howland Cultural Center: We are honored to be celebrating Howland's 150 ‘People Make it Happen’ of this unique and dynamic cultural institution and continuing its tradition of supporting arts and culture. The original Howland Library building was rescued, transformed and opened as the Howland Cultural Center in 1979.
Gina Palmer, Tivoli Artists Gallery: Within our immediate village community we share an engaged audience with many art venues, such as Bard College, Kaatsbaan International Dance & Cultural Park and an annual Artist's Studio Tour. The area is also rich with inns, boutique hotels, excellent restaurants and unique local artisan businesses.
Our spacious gallery rooms lend themselves to a variety of exhibition strategies in a comfortable, stylish space --- and provides a venue for installations, performances, educational lectures, demonstrations and classes. Our members are involved in many aspects of community life, providing opportunities for developing and sharing visual language skills.
Surrounded by numerous small Hudson River communities with similar cultural offerings, we are fortunate to collaborate in this regional bounty of artistic talent and attractions, for residents and travelers alike.

Theresa Kraft, Howland Cultural Center: Howland Cultural Center continues to see a large influx of recent visitors from around the world seeking our robust events and exhibits. Since Dutchess County is a premier destination, many travel to Beacon for the river, the mountains, shops and restaurants, but they are also drawn to our iconic building. I hope we keep that mindset as tourists. That we’re more mindful of residents - and our responsibilities as guests. I hope we reward those that collaborate with communities and show genuine - respect for the arts, culture, and historic preservation.
Gina Palmer, Tivoli Artists Gallery: We currently attract approximately 4,000 - 5,000 visitors from the surrounding Hudson Valley, nearby Berkshires and New York City. Tivoli is expanding in unique ways as a community, post-pandemic; including a growing population of educated workers, producers and consumers, choosing a rural upstate lifestyle.
Our membership is experiencing a surge that reflects this expansion. Tivoli Artists Gallery is grateful to be a 2022 Award of Distinction Finalist in the Arts, and we hope to continue to expand our exhibitions, educational programs and cultural offerings to an ever-changing audience.
