Join Dutchess Tourism in celebrating all the honorees at the 9th annual Dutchess Tourism Awards of Distinction breakfast at The Henry A. Paul Stich, Hopewell Depot Museum: The opportunity to engage the public about the origins and service of Hopewell.
Elizabeth Devine, Mesier Homestead/Wappingers Historical Society: I have been inspired by sharing the crown jewel of the village of Wappingers Falls, the Mesier Homestead, with our residents and visitors alike. This beautiful building is rich in history, and it is a pleasure to take visitors on a journey through time, enabling them to discover our area’s bygone era. Many people share our mission to preserve local history, and through their volunteerism and financial support, the opening of the c1742 section of the Homestead will soon become a reality.

Paul Stich, Hopewell Depot Museum: We are on the national and state registries of historic places and we greet newcomers to Dutchess via the Empire State Trailway.
Elizabeth Devine, Mesier Homestead/Wappingers Historical Society: Visitors are able to journey through time from the Colonial through Victorian eras, all in one location. The c1742 section of the Homestead is projected to be opened to the public in 2023, although visitors can currently take a peek inside this building to see Revolutionary War-era construction techniques. Each room in the main section of the Mesier Homestead, including those on the second floor, are furnished in mid-to-late Victorian and reflects the lifestyle of the last family to live here. Our tours incorporate Revolutionary War history related to the Brower and Mesier families who resided here, as well as the industrial growth of the village of Wappingers Falls as it relates to these families and the mills they operated along the Wappingers Creek.

Paul Stich, Hopewell Depot Museum: With the opening of the Maybrook section of the Empire State Trailway, we are at the gateway to the Hudson Valley for many who have never been in the area.
Elizabeth Devine, Mesier Homestead/Wappingers Historical Society: It is wonderful to see visitors once again enjoying all that Dutchess County has to offer! We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful and historic area. The smaller historic sites within the county are a treasure to discover, and I would love to see a History Trail driving tour or Hudson Line train-to-trolley tour which connects them.
