Tivoli Bays extends for two miles along the shore of the Hudson River between the villages of Tivoli and Barrytown in the town of Red Hook. The habitat supports many unique wetland-dependent species of wildlife. It is a perfect location for hiking and kayaking. The site includes two coves on the shore of the river: Tivoli North Bay, a large intertidal marsh; and Tivoli South Bay, a large, shallow cove with mudflats exposed at low tide. The site also includes the extensive uplands bordering Tivoli North Bay and the sections of shoreline along Tivoli South Bay, as well as Cruger Island and Magdalene Island, which are two bedrock islands with extensive subtidal shallows. The site also includes the mouths of two tributary streams, the Stony Creek and the Saw Kill.
