Cary Institute in Millbrook Presents "Trace: Memory, History, Race and the American Landscape"

Join us for a presentation by Lauret Savoy, award-winning writer and professor of Environmental Studies and Geology at Mount Holyoke College.

Sand and stone are Earth's fragmented memory. Each of us, too, is a landscape inscribed by memory and loss. In her book Trace: Memory, History, Race and the American Landscape, Savoy weaves personal journeys and historical inquiry to explore how this country's still-unfolding history has marked this society, the land, and her.

Trace won the 2016 American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation, the 2017 ASLE Creative Writing Award, and it was a finalist for a PEN and other literary awards.

The event will be held in the Cary Institute auditorium. The event is free, registration is required; seating is first come, first served.
