Vietnam Veteran and Silver Star recipient Karl Rohde will perform his one-man, one-act play, "With No Name on the Marquee" on Friday, March 28, at 6 p.m., and Sunday, March 30, at 2 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Building in Beacon. The play offers an insight into the experience of serving in Vietnam and the ongoing struggles of coming home. (Note: While all are welcome to join, the play includes language and themes that may not be suitable for young children). Alongside Karls performance, music from the 1960s and 70s will be played live by the Encore Guardian Band.

Every year on March 29, the United States observes Vietnam Veterans Day a solemn occasion dedicated to honoring those who served during the Vietnam War. March 29, 1973, was the day the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam, and the remaining prisoners of war were released. Nearly four decades later, President Barack Obama signed a proclamation establishing this annual observance, a long-overdue recognition of those who served under challenging conditions and returned home to an often-unwelcoming society.
