The Hudson Valley Depression Glass Club is hosting its 52nd semi-annual Fall Show and Sale and will be celebrating Veterans this year with an American-themed display.
Due to sidewalk repairs, entry to show will be through the main entrance of building on Main Street. Disabled entry will be at the rear of the building where there is a lift; the door will be marked as such.
The Hudson Valley Depression Glass Club began in 1972 by founding members Elinor Eignor, Bill and Ada Metzing, and Gene and Mickey Meier. The purpose of the club was to bring community members and collectors together to gain knowledge and promote any glass manufactured in America from 1920 through the 1940s, also known as Depression Era Glass. Some 20 different companies produced clear and colored glass during this period, such as Hazel Atlas, Hocking, Indiana, Fenton, Federal, and Westmoreland. While the club has continued this tradition for the last 52 years, it has grown to now include all 20th century American glass companies and items, such as American pottery companies some well-known ones are Roseville, McCoy, Hall, Shawnee, Spaulding and Haegar and American China companies such as Blue Ridge, Franciscan, Lenox, Lotus Ware, Pickard, Homer Laughlin and Bauer and vintage kitchen items and accessories. The club has its monthly meeting, as well as its Spring and Fall shows, at the Veterans Memorial Building in Beacon.
Admission to the show is $5 per person (children under 10 are free) and includes an hourly raffle entry for a $10 gift certificate good toward a purchase from any of the vendors or for a one-year membership in the club. Refreshments will be available. For show information, please contact Debbie Siller at (845) 702-4770. The club meets on the second Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. (except July and August) and guests are encouraged to come by and learn more.
