Its strawberry time in the Hudson Valley! Come on down to the Beacon Sloop Clubs beloved and much-anticipated annual Strawberry Festival for a fun, family-friendly event on the shores of the majestic Hudson River. All are welcome!
Grab a fork and dig into the best strawberry shortcake you can imagine, made with fresh-picked strawberries, homemade biscuits and real whipped cream. Sample other delicious treats, such as fresh strawberry smoothies and freshly made chocolate covered strawberries, among others.
Two solar-powered music stages will provide live music throughout the day. Numerous vendors will be selling food and crafts. Local organizations will be on hand to provide important information about their various programs and services. Sloop clubs and environmental organizations will feature displays of local river history and the environment, as well as information about their organizations.
The Beacon Sloop Clubs boat, the Woody Guthrie, will be taking guests on free sails from the Beacon Harbor. The public may sign up for a free afternoon sail to relax and experience the beauty, power and grandeur of the Hudson (weather permitting). Sign up at the Beacon Sloop Club table starting at noon.
The Beacon Sloop Club is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. The Beacon Sloop Club's Strawberry Festival raises money for the public sailing program on the Woody Guthrie and other environmental education programs. The Beacon Sloop Club meets the first Friday of each month at the clubhouse in Beacon for a potluck dinner, meeting and music. The clubhouse is located on the banks of the Hudson River near the Beacon Metro-North train station. Everyone is always welcome.
