Sean McCarthy, WHS member, artist and Associate Professor of Art at Lehman College of the City University of New York, will discuss the Henry Billings murals which are located in the former Wappingers Falls post office. The former post office, which is now the village police station, was a project from President Roosevelt's New Deal WPA program. These murals depict the village's well-known waterfall and surrounding activity at different points in time — one from 1780, the other from 1880. Learn about these scenes of village history from an artist's perspective — including subject, form, technique, and (art) historical context. This event will be held at the River Valley Arts Center.
