Discover Eastern Dutchess Through the Harlem Valley Rail Ride
Grab your bike and come join us for the Harlem Valley Rail Ride and Festival on Sunday, July 30th! People often forget just how vast Dutchess County is – spanning across 800 square miles, including the gorgeous landscape in eastern Dutchess, which showcases quiet, open roads and beautiful farms. The ride, which begins in the town of Millerton, takes you along a picturesque course through “Mother Nature’s gym”. The lush green summer scenery will include horse farms, dairy farms, abandoned railroads tracks, and more! Although you may be pushing your legs to the limit, this ride is the perfect way to breath in the fresh air and escape.
The ride will incorporate much of the Harlem Valley Rail Trail in Eastern Dutchess, which was recently expanded. With routes including distances of 23, 33, 45, 57, 72, 80 and 100 miles, there’s an option for everyone! The ride starts and ends at Eddie Collins Field, and is about much more than just biking, it’s a celebration! The day will kick off with a delicious breakfast perfect for fueling you up before the big ride. It will include pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage and local Irving Farms Coffee. After you’ve accomplished the miles, you’ll be welcomed at the finish line with a country BBQ festival, featuring local sweet corn, hot dogs, bratwurst, sausage & peppers, hamburgers, veggie burgers, grilled chicken, salad, and dessert. For just $2, make your way to the beer garden and grab yourself a refreshing cold one post ride, because you will deserve it!
Known as the summer’s most beautiful ride, it’s the perfect opportunity to get out of the big hectic city and come enjoy a serene weekend in Dutchess County. For those travelling from New York City, the event is offering round-trip bus transportation for just $70 – including transportation of your bike! But you better act fast if you want to take advantage of this offer because it’s only available to the first 100 riders to sign up.
