Dutchess Tourism Wins Gold for Virtual Reality Video

Dutchess Tourism, Inc. (DTI) won a Gold AVA Digital Award for its innovative virtual reality (VR) video. The recently produced VR video gives you the chance to experience Dutchess attractions in an immersive way. View the 360° video on desktop PCs, or watch the VR version on mobile devices with a VR headset on the Vimeo app. Featured are The Culinary Institute of America, Walkway Over the Hudson, and Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. Watch the video.

“Dutchess draws 5 million visitors yearly who spend $570 million in our shops, restaurants and hotels,” said County Executive Marc Molinaro. “DTI’s advanced use of technology in this VR video sets us apart as a destination. Congratulations to DTI President & CEO Mary Kay Vrba and BBG&G Advertising President & CEO Deborah Garry and their teams on this much-deserved honor.”

The AVA Digital Awards are an international competition honoring digital marketing creativity and innovation. More than 2,500 entries world-wide are judged by an Association of Marketing and Communication panel. DTI took the gold in the Creativity Video Production category.

“VR video is an emerging medium allowing DTI to engage audiences in a new way,” said Mary Kay. “It’s also a helpful tool to use at travel trade and consumer shows.”
