Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site

The only National Historic Site dedicated to a first lady of the United States, "Val-Kill", was the home of Eleanor Roosevelt from 1945-1962. Includes ER memorial garden, grounds and hiking trails. 

Visitors traveling from NYC can take the wheelchair acccessible hybrid bus operated by the National Park Service from the Poughkeepsie train station to Historic Hyde Park. The Roosevelt Ride is a free shuttle service that runs daily, May 1-October 31. Reservations are required and are made by calling 845-229-5320. The shuttle meets trains arriving from New York City at 10:35am and departs from the Wallace Visitor's Center in Hyde Park at 5:00pm to return passengers to the Poughkeepsie train station.
