Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site

Gilded Age mansion was the home of Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt from 1896-1938.  Includes formal gardens, grounds, hiking trails and spectacular views of the Hudson River.

Visitors traveling from NYC can take the wheelchair acccessible hybrid bus operated by the National Park Service from the Poughkeepsie train station to Historic Hyde Park. The Roosevelt Ride is a free shuttle service that runs daily, May 1-October 31. Reservations are required and are made by calling 845-229-5320. The shuttle meets trains arriving from New York City at 10:35am and departs from the Wallace Visitor's Center in Hyde Park at 5:00pm to return passengers to the Poughkeepsie train station.

No matter how you arrive at the Home of FDR, the National Park Service’s Roosevelt Ride can shuttle you to and from any of these sites: Vanderbilt Mansion, Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Val-Kill) and Top Cottage (May - October)
