Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum: A New Deal for a New Generation!

See new, exciting permanent museum exhibits telling the story of the Roosevelt presidency, from the Great Depression through the New Deal years and World War II, emphasizing Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt’s relationship with the American people. Special interactives, immersive audio-visual theaters, and rarely seen artifacts bring a New Deal to a New Generation.

New state-of-the-art exhibits tell of FDR's heroic struggle to regain his strength and political career after polio. Tactile exhibits enhance the experience for visitors with impaired vision. A new bilingual audio tour brings the Roosevelts’ story to more guests. www.FDRLibrary.marist.edu  .The Museum, with its newly renovated building and new exhibits, is part of the National Archives and Records Administration.  Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Research room, 8:45am - 5pm.

Our next special exhibit will be "The Art of War: American Poster Art 1941-1945." Opens April 21, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

Visitors traveling from NYC can take the wheelchair acccessible hybrid bus operated by the National Park Service from the Poughkeepsie train station to Historic Hyde Park. The Roosevelt Ride is a free shuttle service that runs daily, May 1-October 31. Reservations are required and are made by calling 845-229-5320. The shuttle meets trains arriving from New York City at 10:35am and departs from the Wallace Visitor's Center in Hyde Park at 5:00pm to return passengers to the Poughkeepsie train station.

No matter how you arrive at the Home of FDR, the National Park Service’s Roosevelt Ride can shuttle you to and from any of these sites:

Vanderbilt Mansion, Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Val-Kill) and Top Cottage (May - October)

The museum now offeres special hours for visitors who might have sensory sensitivity concerns on the following dates:

  • Wednesday Feb. 28th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Sunday May 27th from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
  • Wednesday July 25th from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Sunday Oct. 21st from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
