Peaceful Provisions, Beacon

Beacon is certainly a paradise for foodies, and they've recently added vegan donuts to the list. Peaceful Provisions crafts immensely popular plant-based treats; so popular in fact that they often sell out by afternoon on the weekends, so head to Main Street bright and early. In fact, the first person in line gets a free donut! In addition to being completely animal product-free, these desserts come in truly unique and spectacular flavors. Blueberry fritters, lemon poppy seed twists, strawberry shortcake old fashioneds, cinnamon croughnuts and lucuma cream-filled donuts are just a few of the delicious and highly Instagrammable treats.

The Doughnut Dolly, Poughkeepsie

Head to Eastdale Village Town Center for creative and colorful sweets at The Doughnut Dolly. Everything is made fresh daily, and owner Jennifer Dipalo-Foley has inspired takes on different styles of doughnut. She pays homage to the "doughnut dollies" of World War II: volunteers who brought fresh-baked doughnuts to soldiers on front lines. In this tradition, she strives to lift the spirits of anyone facing adversity that comes through the doors. She emulates creme brulee in a cream-filled yeasted donut covered in crunchy, carmalized topping. Another specialty are milk doughnuts, which are filled with whipped marscapone cream and strawberries. Try the black and white cookie-style doughnut while it lasts!
