County Players, one of the longest running community theatre companies in the area, is proud to present the comedy "The Book of Will" by Lauren Gunderson. Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays, Sept. 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24, at 8 p.m., with matinees on Sunday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.

William Shakespeare’s been dead for three years. His friends and fellow actors miss him and his beautiful plays. When they see a pirated, badly botched production of "Hamlet" ("To be or not to be, there’s the point..."), they realize Shakespeare’s lines are disappearing into the forgetful memory of time. They need a book — a definitive copy of his original plays, but to make one, they have to battle an unscrupulous publisher, a boozy poet and their own mortality. Lauren Gunderson’s look at Shakespeare’s First Folio is a lively, funny, poignant love letter to theatre and the printed word.

The production features the local talents of Michael Frohnhoefer; Michele George; Declan McCarthy; Kevin McCarthy Jr.; Kevin McCarthy Sr.; Macy McKnight; David J. Ringwood; Julie Seltzer; Doug Woolley; and Robert Yarnall.

Director Andrew Karl says: "At its core, 'The Book of Will' is about a community coming together to honor their friend and each other. So, it is fitting to be performed by County Players, who honor our community and each other with their commitment to the highest level of theatrical offerings. It's been my honor to guide this story of life, love, loss and the legacy of Shakespeare's words -- stories were for all of us. The 'Book of Will' is for all of us."
