Come to Stony Kill Farm for a week-long festival celebrating the local pollinators! There are plenty of fun and educational family-friendly events planned throughout the week. Check out the schedule:

Aug. 2

Pre-Festival Presentation, "Creating Pollinator-Friendly Landscapes," 7 p.m. at the Learning Center (ages 12 and older): Join horticulturalist Meg Crawford and President of the Northern Dutchess Beekeepers Club Ros Guess to learn which trees and plants to select when setting up a garden to attract pollinators. RSVP by emailing stacey@stonykill.org.

Aug. 6

Yoga by the Garden, 10-11 a.m. at the Verplanck Garden (ages 12 and older, $15): Bring a mat and a water bottle and join Lauren Magarelli from beBhakti Yoga Center for this class among the beautiful flowers and butterflies of the Verplanck Perennial Garden.

Open Barn, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Stony Kill's big red livestock barn (all ages, free): Visit the cows, pigs, sheep and chickens and talk with the volunteer barn guides.

Outdoor Movie: "Flight of the Butterflies," 8:30 p.m. next to the Manor House (all ages, free): Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets for this outdoor screening. There will be popcorn!

Aug. 7

Butterfly ID and Pollinator Plant Walk, 11 a.m. at the Verplanck Garden (all ages, $5): Join pollinator expert Adrienne Papazian and explore the world of butterflies and pollinator plants!

Aug. 8

Bustling Beehives, 5 p.m. at the Learning Center (ages 8 and older, $5): Learn all about beekeeping with resident honeybee expert Reagan Upshaw!

Aug. 10

Community Science: "Monitoring Monarchs from Egg to Migration," 10 a.m.-noon at the picnic tables (all ages, $5): Join Stacey Lynch-Adnams for a lesson on the lifecycle of monarch butterflies. View monarch eggs, caterpillars and adults, and collect data as part of the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project.

Aug. 11

Beginner Bird Walk, 9:30 a.m. at the picnic tables (ages 12 and older, $5): Bring your binoculars and explore many of the farm’s most popular birding spots with seasoned birders from the Ralph T. Waterman Bird Club! Some extra binoculars will be available.

Aug. 12

After-Dark Moth Walk, 8:30 p.m. at the Verplanck Garden (all ages, $5): Join Margaret Maruschak and Alanna Facchin for this walk through the farm and forest to study fluttering night life! Wear comfortable shoes and bring bug spray and a flashlight. Limited spaces available.

Aug. 13 (Festival Finale, rain date Aug. 14)

Hay Rides in the Butterfly Wagon, 4-6 p.m. in front of the Manor House (all ages, free): Hop on the hay wagon for a fun-filled ride around the farm!

Activity Tents, 4-7:30 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Manor House (all ages, free): Enjoy butterfly-themed activities, games, crafts and demonstrations for all ages!

Concert on the Lawn Featuring "The Big Band Sound," 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Manor House (all ages, free): Pack a picnic, bring the lawn chairs and a blanket and get ready to dance as "The Big Band Sound" 20-piece jazz orchestra plays the swinging sounds of the big-band era!
