We’ll whisk you from Poughkeepsie to the famous New York State Sheep and Wool Festival at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck for a day filled with fiber, food and fun for all ages. Sample local eats, attend knitting and crochet workshops, peruse their wine pavilion and make some new wooly four-legged friends. See the work of 300 fiber artists plus crafts galore, amazing sheepherding demonstrations and sheepdog trials, a petting zoo, hay maze, and other children’s activities.

The gorgeous Hudson Valley fall foliage is the perfect backdrop for this tour. After a quick trip to Rhinebeck, stock up on local produce and baked goods at the Migliorelli Farmstand. Then, discover sheep, yarn, fiber supplies and handcrafted items at the Hudson Valley Sheep & Wool Farm, where you can also say hello to the Shetland and Icelandic sheep on their 131-acre farm. Top the day off with visits to Tousey Winery and Hudson Valley Distillery. Wine and spirits tastings will be available at an additional cost.

DUTCHESS COUNTY FARM FRESH WASSAIC: Sips, Syrups & Sustainability Tour

We’ll visit the Village of Millerton, stopping by Harney & Sons Tearoom and Irving Farm Coffee before traveling to the 1,500-acre eco-friendly McEnroe Organic Farm with a farm market, livestock, composting operation and greenhouses. Then, we’ll learn how syrup is made at Crown Maple Estate, an 800-acre culinary and nature destination where you can tour the modern, state of-the-art sugarhouse and tasting room.
