Learn Basics of Sailing in Beacon

LEARN BASICS OF SAILING in a classroom situation and become a member of the crew on the “Woody Guthrie”, historic wooden replica of a gaff-rigged Hudson River Sloop, to get your hands-on experience.

Class meets once a week on Wednesday evenings, beginning April 12th and finishing on May 31st. Classes run from 7-9 PM at Beacon Sloop Club, a wooden shingled building at the river’s edge across from the Beacon train station. Reserve your space today!

In 1969 the newly built sloop 'Clearwater' first visited Beacon. A small band of local youngsters and oldsters organized a welcoming festival to support the valiant crew of the sloop and to help spread Clearwater's environmental message. Thus began the Beacon Sloop Club.
