Hopewell Depot Living History Presentation

What it was like to drive trains through Hopewell Junction and to work as a station agent in the Hopewell Junction Depot?  Join us at the Depot on Railroad Avenue in Hopewell Junction.  Bring chairs and blankets

Jack Swanberg and Pete McLachlan, train engineers, and Tom DeJoesph, station agent, will recall their duties and responsibilities in the cabs of their diesel engines and in the freight office of the Depot. All three worked for the former New Haven Railroad during the 1960s. Swanberg and McLachlan drove freight trains from New Haven, Connecticut to Maybrook, New York and back again. DeJoseph managed freight deliveries and pickups in Hopewell Junction.

In addition to recalling the details of their jobs, all three men will recount amusing and insightful anecdotes of stopping at Hopewell Junction and interacting with various residents of the hamlet. Their presentation contributes to the living history of the Depot.

In case of inclement weather, the talk will be held at the East Fishkill Library, 348 NY Route 376, in the Alley Room.
