Decoding the Past: Treasures from Dutchess County History in Stanfordville

The "Decoding" series is not just a look at the past, but an examination of the discovery and "detective" process involved. Learn now the experts turn over stones, "connect-the-dots" and discover the unexpected.

Join the Stanford Historical Society and the Dutchess County Historical Society to follow the local travels of an apply-buyer in 1904. This program will combine a series of letters from DCHS's Hubbard Collection with the Hyatt  Photography Collection from Stanfordville covering the same era.

Among other things, we'll look at the impact of one man's "pedal-power" and the role of rail lines going through Stanford, which connected Dutchess County apples to European markets. Discover how apples from Bangall ended up for sale in London, England!

This program is free and open to the public. Thanks for support of sponsor AAR Auctions http://www.aarauctions.com/home/

Please mark your calendars for our next Decoding the Past program at 1 PM on April 24, 2017, at the Boardman Road Library in Poughkeepsie, where we will explore the contents and tales of a Civil War surgeon’s kit!
