Roosevelt Ride: Free Shuttle in Service
Don’t let your lack of transportation stop you from visiting some of Dutchess County’s premier historical sites. The National Park Service (NPS) is once again running a shuttle from Poughkeepsie’s Metro-North train station to Hyde Park. Visit the FD Roosevelt Home, Presidential Library & Museum; Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill; and FDR's retreat Top Cottage.
This shuttle is an excellent opportunity for those without a car to explore their American heritage in an easy and affordable way. The Roosevelt Ride Shuttle runs five days a week, Thursdays through Mondays, from now through October 31. Did we mention it's free of charge?
It couldn’t be easier coming from New York City! Begin at Grand Central Station and simply take Metro-North's Hudson River Line to Poughkeepsie. Pick up is at 11am; the shuttle takes you to the NPS sites, one by one. Leave the NPS sites at 4:45pm and get back to the Poughkeepsie station in time to catch the 5:33pm train home.
