The Historic Horton House Opens to the Public
A "new" historic site is now open to the public - and that is a rare happening! The Joseph Horton House, (c.1752) in Wappingers Falls, offers Colonial tours of the pre-Revolutionary war homestead of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Horton.
Indulge your senses at Horton House, and truly experience Dutch-Colonial America. It's okay to touch the many antique artifacts as you take in the home's18th century architecture and elegance. You'll smell and taste the mouth watering Dutch cooking of Mrs. Horton while listening to the beautiful tenor voice of Mr. Horton. Your visit to the Joseph Horton House is educational as well as heart warming.
Tour packages are offered daytime, afternoon and evening as well. These tours provide a truly unique experience. Many antique artifacts are placed throughout the home, making it "The Ultimate Colonial Experience". Tour packages include the ability to taste some of Mrs. Horton’s fine Dutch cooking, participate in colonial projects such as candle making, sewing, spinning, cooking or soap making, and end the day listening to Mr. Horton’s talented singing. Each experience lasts approximately 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours.
The Horton House offers tours for many or just a few, both children and adults. This is a great place to hold a party, whether it is a birthday or bridal shower.
