The Garden Conservancy Saves More than Gardens
The Garden Conservancy is cleaning up the environment in new and improved ways. In addition to opening private gardens to the public, they've changed their method of printing the Open Days Program for the upcoming season. The new printing process includes the use of Forest Stewardship Council-certified paper, vegetable dye-based inks, and 100% wind power.
With their annual directory reaching nearly 20,000 people each year, this new effort made by The Garden Conservancy is a big step toward becoming environmentally friendly! The "green" benefits of this commitment to renewable resources are equal to planting 577 trees, plus representing a savings of almost 11,000 pounds of CO2 emissions. This positive example presented throughout the Open Days Program demonstrates the Garden Conservancy’s dedication towards making the world a better place for all.
The private gardens showcased throughout the year are prime examples of the beauty of nature and our scenic surroundings. Enjoy the magnificent effort the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days Program has made: to share with the public America’s best gardens. The Open Days directory provides descriptions of area gardens, driving directions, visiting hours and dates, along with one free admission ticket to any garden event. Open days begin in Dutchess County in May.
